Key Stage 3
Religious Education gives students the opportunity to explore and learn from a range of human beliefs and ideas. In year 7, students will follow the Essex Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education and will study the beliefs and practices of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Students will be encouraged to develop and explore their own questions in relation to the topics studied. Throughout key stage 3, students will continue to study a diverse range of topics, including a range of religious and secular world views, issues and ideas. The study of Religious Education will help all students to develop an enquiring and questioning mind, as well as examining their own views alongside those of other people.
This work at key stage 3 will equip all students for further study when they start a Full Course GCSE in year 10. Beyond this, there is the opportunity for study of these issues in the Sixth Form where students can opt for an A Level in Religious Studies.
