Key Stage 3

Religious Education

RE allows students to understand and learn from a range of human beliefs and ideas.  In year 7, students will follow the Essex Agreed Syllabus for RE and will study the beliefs and practices of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.  Students will be encouraged to develop and explore their own questions in relation to the topics studied.  There is a diversity of issues studied throughout key stage 3, including reference to other faiths and a range of secular world views and ideas.  The study of RE will help students to develop an enquiring and questioning mind as well as to examine their own views alongside those of other people.  Students will study RE until the end of year 9, after which they will start a Full Course GCSE.
