Business

Statement of intent for Business

Our purpose is to provide an inclusive business education, incorporating general and vocational specifications at Level 2 & 3 that inspire students to reach their full potential.  Their education will equip them with an holistic understanding of business behaviour in a range of real-world contexts, challenging assumptions and developing critical analysis skills.  We aim to build the fundamental quantitative and qualitative knowledge and problem-solving skills students need for their future careers, alongside promoting a positive mindset that relishes challenge and celebrates achievement.

KS4 - We offer two courses at KS4, OCR GCSE Business (9-1) and OCR Level 1/2 Cambridge National in Enterprise and Marketing.  GCSE Business equips students with the skills and confidence to explore how different business situations affect decision-making.  Students develop their understanding of concepts, objectives and terminology, and the impact of contemporary issues on business operations.  The OCR Cambridge National in Enterprise and Marketing encourages students to develop the practical skills and applied knowledge they will need in the business and enterprise sector.  Students put their learning into practice and develop valuable transferable skills, beneficial if they are considering starting up their own enterprise/business.

KS5 - The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Business is equivalent to one A Level, and supports progression to higher education.  The learning programme covers business environments, finance, marketing and human resources and develops employability skills such as cognitive and problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills and intrapersonal skills.  Students will learn transferable skills such as the ability to learn independently, the ability to research actively and methodically and be able to give presentations and be active group members.
