Elective Programme
At the Sandon School, we are proud to be a caring, ambitious and inclusive community where students are respectful, engaged and keen to learn. Many of our staff choose to send their own children to Sandon, which speaks strongly of the trust and confidence they have in our school and its values.
We have high expectations for behaviour, effort and kindness, as we believe these are essential foundations for success both in school and in later life. Every child is encouraged to aim high, and our experienced and dedicated staff work closely with families to help students achieve their aspirations.
Our guiding principle, Aiming Higher Together, shapes everything we do. Reading sits at the heart of school life, and our central library - featuring wide and diverse selection of books - reflects our commitment to nurturing a lifelong love of reading in every child.
We also place great importance on opportunities beyond the classroom. Our carefully planned elective programme gives all students the chance to take part in a wide range of enriching activities, helping them to broaden their experiences, develop new skills and grow in confidence. These electives support personal development alongside academic success and allow students to form smaller communities built around shared interests.
To support this programme, we use a simple tap-in system. Students tape their ID badges when attending clubs, allowing us to monitor participation and celebrate commitment. Attendance is recognised at the end of each term through rewards assemblies, where students receive certificates.
I would like to thank our staff for their continued support and dedication in providing these opportunities. Our elective clubs play a vital role in strengthening our school community and are a key part of what makes Sandon an enriching and positive place for our students.
