This was the first year that we have recognised this week and Mr Bay and Mrs Gower created a selection of activities for KS3. Parliament Week is designed to inspire young people to become more politically aware. As a school we have launched A Level Politics to support our young people to become more politically active.
The students were encouraged to make Big Ben biscuits and to create a leaf for our school tree which focuses on issues which our young people care about, from climate change to the rights of LGBTQ+ people. All KS3 students participated in the "Big Debate" which focussed on whether young people should be able to vote at 16 years old. The votes were counted and it was narrowly a 'NO' decision.
