Trip to The Somme

On Friday, 17 November 70 Year 9 students set off from school at 4 am to make their way to The Somme Battlefields of WW1.

During the day we learned how difficult the first day of the Battle of the Somme was by visiting Sunken Lane, Hawthorn Ridge Crater, Newfoundland Park, Ulster Tower and the Thiepval memorial where we held a short remembrance service.

The students were a credit to the school and came away from the day with new knowledge on WW1.
